OMG!! you have made my day :) random stupid question, but how do you make an icon?

Well I use Photoshop (I'm a graphic design student). Any 100px x 100px image can be used as an icon. I use photoshop to crop the image, change the color, intensity, effects and add textures to the images. Then you save them as a .jpeg and upload to livejournal.

Not very helpful, I know. Do you have any photo editing programs on your computer?

Funny thing is i was thinking about going into graphic design, but the i decided i wanted to be a psychologist.

I have gimp, but i have hear it is no where near as good a photoshop.

I have GIMP. It's not as good as photoshop, but once you get the hang of it you can still do quite a bit.

I've heard of gimp, but never used it. But I know people who make icons in it. There are loads of tutorials available on youtube about making icons/avatars.

Yup. It's how I make all of mine.
I'm not great with it, but it works and it's pretty user friendly.

Oh, these are fabulous, thank you so much. I have taken, and credited, number 14, because of LOVE. And I sort of want to steal all the Jared ones as well, but I am sticking with them as a couple for now because I seem to have run out of icon spaces over at dreamwidth and I don't know what I am going to do.

I was sorting through the caps and I swear, Jared makes the most ADORABLE faces ever. I could hardly choose which ones to pick. I'll be making more when I have time. XD
