If memory serves correctly, one country's word for 'left' is 'sinistra', as in 'sinister'. *sigh* What did we left-handers ever do to deserve such hate?

Haha, well left handers are less common! We're evil because everything different is wrong!

[livejournal.com profile] storylandqueen's memory is right, 'sinistra' means 'left' in Italian (and means also 'sinister' referred to a female).

And it's really just because left handers are less common, which shows exactly how stupid human beings can be :\

Just my 2 cents C: sorry for sneaking in the thread

no, thanks for clarifying! I actually just recently learned that lefties used to train themselves to be right handed or be considered satan spawn. That's probably just me being a slowpoke though, I had no idea

You're welcome ^^ I don't know, I always knew those things (I even know parents of friends of mine who were obliged by their own grandparents/parents not to use left hand when they were child), and the whole "Satan" stuff, I think here in Italy almost everybody knows... but since it's something very related to Church I honestly never thought about these superstitions having a worldwide extension (I guess I've been a little a slowpoke too)
