Anyway, hello! This is going to be a bit of a random Breckin!celebration post. Just because sometimes getting lost in youtube is a great use of a day. A week. A few months. Whatever.

I'm not going to concentrate on his films, but vic_amy_z made a great round up post about them here. And I'm not going to concentrate on his lovely interviews either, they will have to wait for another time. This post is (mostly) going to be snippets of his tv career that we've managed to track down, and random flailing.


Let's start at the very beginning (a very good place to start). This is Breckin on Child's Play, in 1984. He's only in the first 50 seconds or so:

He is also kind of ridiculously cute and tiny in The Wonder Years episode, where he's a bit of a bad boy that Kevin falls in love with: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.


In 2003, He was in a pilot for an HBO show, The Near Future, and HBO decided NOT TO MAKE TV WITH BRECKIN IN IT. No, I don't understand that either. Here is a clip from it, which is all that seems to be online.

Inside Schwartz was either the most unwatchable garbage you've ever seen, or kind of amazing and likely to rival Friends for the bestest sitcom ever, depending on which reviews you believe. Either way, we might never know, it's nowhere to be found.

But if you load this video, then there are LITERALLY 5 seconds worth of trailer for it at about 2'40. But in those 5 seconds Breckin dances with some cheerleaders, and takes his top off. So it's kind of worthwhile somehow:

Why does more tv does not take this example of making Breckin just remove clothes slightly???? I have all the confusion in the world.

(Your best source for naked Breckin is Studio 54, a film which cut out all of his gay scenes, but still has him dressed only in tight short shorts for a lot of the time. I'm just saying.)



He's actually made quite a few sitcoms that are HIDDEN FROM THE WORLD. The internet is mostly pretending they just don't exist, but there are a few bits and pieces out there:

- Where's Rodney? - This is the titles for an 'abominable' tv pilot from many many years ago. A young babyish Breckin with much hair.

- Jackie Thomas Show - interview - This is an interview with Breckin and some other nineties stars, I think he's quite late on in it, and do get a clip from the Jackie Thomas Show. HE IS RIDICULOUSLY PRETTY. Fair warning.

- Jackie Thomas Show - opening credits - At about 2'10 you get an incredibly grainy blurry title credits. It looks terrible. But amazing. You get split seconds of Breckin playing a broom like a guitar.

- Married To The Kellys - That's a link to the first part of the first episode, there are only a few episodes up on youtube at the moment, and they're cut into 2 minute pieces, but they are there. It's . . . not the greatest comedy in the world. BUT HE IS SO SHINY.

- The Home Court - I can't find ANY video footage for this one, but there are a couple of promo shots:



Josie and the Pussycats is a kind of great film even though it's not about Breckin Meyer. But the Breckin Meyer bits are CLEARLY MOST AWESOME. He's in a band, they disappear after about five minutes of the film, but IT IS WORTH WATCHING BECAUSE OH:

Some other musical interludes turn up in Road Trip. Breckin Rapping, in a deleted scene thing, I think? And then a singalong bit to I Wanna Rock.

And he's in a band in 'Can't Hardly Wait', which he is barely in, but he is SO PRETTY, but it isn't somehow on youtube. Whatever, youtube:





Speaking of deleted scenes, Herbie: Fully Loaded is actually quite a nice film all told, but they just CUT Breckin's whole storyline out, so you should just watch the deleted scenes instead. HE DRUMS SOMETIMES IN THEM. Scene 1. Scene 2. Scene 3. Scene 4. And of course the Bloopers.


(If you like the drumming as much as Vic does, there are various bits of him drumming on youtube, but this is lovely, although he's mostly hidden. Hidden but happy.)

This is a spoilery, but lovely scene from Caffeine, which is a sort of nothingy film, but it's okay. There has been an ongoing plot where they've found a used condom and have been trying to work out who it belonged to:

He's in an episode of Party of Five. It's all on youtube, here's part 1 of 5.

He was in an after school special about not being racist, in which he was Quite Racist and not in it a lot. But he did take off his shirt. I have a download link for it if anyone would like it:



And he's in basically one minute of a film called Pay Back, (AKA 'Pay Back: Not the one with Mel Gibson in it'):

I said I'd keep writing random comment fic on wtf wednesdays, but then I just...forgot. So here is some platonic Janie/Nathan/Peter/Jared, in honour of how much I enjoyed the show's handling of EVERYTHING about Nathan.

Three months after their honeymoon, Janie realised that she saw just as much of Peter and Jared nowadays as she did back when she was actually dating Peter.

When she came home after work to the sounds of Peter's familiar laughter, Nathan's excited yelling, Jared's annoying voice, her first thought wasn't what?, but rather oh, they're here again; better make sure we have enough food for four. When she came down for breakfast after a well-deserved lie-in on Saturday morning, she was never surprised to find Nathan back from his morning jog having picked up two stray lawyers along the way.

"I can't believe you actually jog," Jared would say, rummaging through their fridge for food with no shame whatsoever. "Could you be more of a yuppie loser?"

"I can't believe you don't jog," Nathan would reply. "I bet you'd be taller if you had exercised more when you were growing up."

And Peter would attempt to high five him while Jared tackled him, and an impromptu wrestling match would ensue. Janie, still too muzzy with sleep to bother, just stepped around their flailing pile of limbs to make some coffee.

It worried her enough once to talk to Nathan about it. "It's just--it didn't work out with Peter and me because I felt like he never grew up. Especially with Jared hanging around all the time, and all the frat boy stuff they do. And now I...I don't know, I'm just concerned that they might be a bad influence on you."

It wasn't the same as before, though. Peter and Jared had grown up, whether she wanted to admit it or not. And Nathan wasn't Peter. Nathan always put Janie first, never let her doubt it. Peter and Jared had saved their engagement, and they saw Nathan for the amazing human being he was. Jared will never stop making fun of Nathan's penchant for designer monk beer, but even that ribbing was gentle, affectionate, kept Nathan from taking himself too seriously. Janie said she was worried they might be a bad influence, but every day she could see the small ways in which the three of them were good influences on each other.

Which was why one day, when they were one man short for their video game marathon, she didn't say no. Peter and Jared were squashed up together on the loveseat, and Nathan was in their huge recliner, offering up the fourth controller with pleading puppy eyes. Janie made a big show of sighing deeply, but she took the controller and sat down on the arm of Nathan's chair. With Nathan's arm settling around her waist and Peter and Jared cheering, she pressed the start button.

Oh, I'm absolutely LOVING this drive-by comment fic thing. It's like an unexpected gift with purchase - come for the comments, stay for the fic!

The three of them are just great together, I could see a lovely friendship developing between them and Janie just gradually accepting it because she's actually really happy that there's finally a trauma-free way to have them all in her life. Because who wouldn't want Peter and Jared in their life?!

Awwww, thank you! I'm glad you liked it. To be honest I completely forgot about doing this until you reminded me of that DA Swatello/Jared/Peter thing, so really we have YOU to thank. 8)

I am big time into threesomes and moresomes and friendship fic and rarepairs, but I don't really have the urge to write them out in full length, so there are probably more random comment fics in this comm's future. :D?

Oh, yes yes yes yes. I can completely see it like that, that's lovely. I really like the explanatory bit about Janie worrying, but it being different with Nathan, because he isn't like them, even though he does like them.

Although I have to say I am really worried now about Carmen and Pindar missing them a bit. But probably it's fine.

TRUE STORY: I thought about writing Carmen and Pindar into the video game playing, since they're probably playing CoD or L4D or something where they can connect with others online, but then I was too lazy to explain all that in writing. So instead, imagine Pindar doing his own friendship threesome thing with Damien and Hanna, while Carmen is like "fffff yeah, I haven't had a girl's night without the boys in forever, I'mma enjoy this for all it's worth."

DUDE! THIS POST!! [dies] I don't think I've ever seen quite so much Breckin gathered together in one place before. And that is NEVER a bad thing! It's like you took all the best bits of the interwebs and smished them together into one giganamous post of awesomeness. I will probably be back here a lot!

I love his early career ever so slightly more than is healthy (note to self - it's okay, he *is* older than you) and OMG, the promo pics of 'The Home Court'! Why is this not available to us?! Also, the titles to 'The Jackie Thomas Show'! Another thing of beauty that we are denied...

And those lovely shirtless pics? They are definitely from 'Married To The Kellys', because having sat through the first episode, I now recognise the couch! This may almost be a good enough reason to sit through every other 2 minute snippet that's available on YouTube. Almost...

Argh! I forgot the amazing photoshopped GLORY. I will add it in now, I totally thought of it, but must have closed the tab at some point. I was awash with tabs for a while there.

Breckin looks so soft. Esp in that first larger pic of him being pretty at the bottom. I don't know how else to describe him.

Somehow I missed out on Inside Shwartz, probably because it was about sports and yeah... *shakes head* But I did really like Married to the Kellys. I remember watching it specifically for Breckin. (even if I never can remember how I ever noticed him in the first place, it was just always a need to watch things with Breckin in them.)

And I love his enduring bromance with Ryan Phillippe. It's like the cutest thing next to his bromances with Seth and, to a lesser extent, Donald Faison. I love that he just has bromances with everyone. Clearly he's the best thing ever.

Ooh, I don't know if I've ever looked at his wikipedia page. It would be hilarious if it looked like this instead, though. If it was just dedicated to his TWO SECOND appearances on youtube.

Sometimes people are blond and then just grow out of it.
