I am slightly late, because I am RUBBISH. But I'm willing to bet it is still Monday in some peoples' world. So it's almost like winning \o/.

108 - The Bangover


TV Rage - "A judge puts Franklin and Bash on house arrest due to their courtroom shenanigans. Meanwhile, a visit by Infeld's niece goes up in smoke when she's busted for marijuana possession by a judge; the arrival of Carmen's boyfriend has legal consequences."





Do you hate temps? Do you hate Lily? How much do you miss Hanna? How cute is Jared with police? Would you show Jared what you do in bed? (it would be platonic!) Are you more fascinated by Peter's love life than Damien is? How beautiful is Pindar in court? Also Peter in no clothes. Also Jared in all his clothes? Do you always refer to yourself in the third person? This is one of my least favourite episodes, but there are still lots of bits I love about it.

109 - Bachelor Party


TV Rage - "Janie's fiancé enlists Peter to help him dodge a legal quagmire in the wake of his bachelor party. Meanwhile, Jared revisits his high school when a teacher is accused of having lusty encounters with her student."

I think I just love every bit of this one! I love Janie, and Nathan, and Jared being jealous and beautiful, and Peter being beautiful and only a little bit torn, and I love the bar tender and the school teacher, and Jared's school, and Rudi, and Quantum Leap. I love that Jared runs away after sex to have pudding with Peter. I love that they hug, I love EVERYTHING ABOUT BRECKIN MEYER'S FACE.

It is still Monday in the US! :D ...still very muchly Monday...ohgosh...still...Monday...

I MISS HANNA! I am also slightly concerned that a half-naked Peter has a guitar in the bedroom with him while he is half-naked (or more likely all naked)....I cannot see any situation where that ends well....I feel like the guitar would just get....yeah....

The Bug periodically refers to herself in third person...but not usually online...because that's not so much fun when you can't see her dorky faces and overdramatic handflailing....

Also, I kinda hated Lily, not gonna lie... And the whole treatment of her....how old is she? Over 20, right? Like prolly in her 30s? She's kinda a grown-woman....

Also, I kinda disliked the whole Carmen subplot... she's just not my fave... sorry, hon.

Q! I loved Q! He should be brought back more often! Also, I kinda liked how FnB keeps stealing all the old Star Trek actors... If they get Kate Mulgrew in an episode, I might die... Or Garrett Wang... that would possibly be dangerous...

Also, I'm confused about the ending of this... So Janie is done? She's not coming back? Who will FnB have for a love interest? ...unless... Unless the writers choose to focus their writerly romancenenergy on the loveliness that is Damien and Hanna and a deliciously overdramatic baby subplot with sneaky kisses and holding hands! I would be okay with that!

Sorry I am glad you are still stuck in a Monday. Unless you are glad, mostly things seem to be happening on your Tuesdays that you might be avoiding by slowing down Monday. Maybe Mondays are secretly terrific.

I really really love that Peter has his guitar on, I love that he wants to sing at people, I love EVERYTHING about him, but especially maybe that.

The Janie thing is quite great of them, I really really hope they don't back out of it somehow and have her not really marry Nathan, or start having problems with him. I hope Peter just moves on. SPOILERS SAY:


that Peter is having a recurring girlfriend next season, but they say that and then say she's only in two episodes, so it doesn't sound like it's TOO big a deal, which I'm so so so in favour of. I know it's a clichéd slash fan response, but I just don't think they need romantic interests - not beyond girlfriend of the week. They have so many characters I want to see given screentime already that I just don't know why they would add more.

I totally say they leave the heterosexuality to Damien and Hanna, they do it BETTER than anyone else on their show.

And yes! Everything about Lily was annoying, including the weird protective family thing that she was so obviously too old for. But mostly her accent. And her hair. And her RIDICULOUS PATHETIC ATTEMPTS AT SMUGGLING.

This could be true...this could be a fantastic Monday...once the paper and project are done and turned in and not on my laptop anymore...

*giggles* I love that you dislike her accent. I can never really hear the differences between good and bad non-American accents (although, bad Southern accents make me twitch...) It amuses me to find people who actually have these accents have opinions on them, lol.

Oh god yes, I meant to say. Garrett Wang being in it would just be LOVE. Or Kate Mulgrew. Or both of them, they could sue each other and fight and it would be amazing. I love them.

When people call JVDB 'JVDB' I always read it as JCVD and I am not against Jean Claude Van Damme being in F&B, but it always takes me by surprise when people are casually discussing it, like I've missed something AMAZING.

And I'm replying to my own post because I keep scrolling past that .gif and OH MY GOD I HAVE ALL THE ~FEELINGS.

I love everything about it, I love that they gave it to us - I am so judgey sometimes on tv for pandering to fandom, like sometimes I think they do it at the expense of their show (and I'm just an incredibly judgey person, sorry, I think a lot of the best slash is written when the writers are not purposefully writing slash, they might be purposefully writing a really intense, loving relationship, but not a tongue in cheek, oh well, this will keep the fangirls happy kind of slash). But I find nothing to judge here, because they've sold me entirely on Peter and Jared having the kind of relationship where they might easily hug in a diner just to cheer themselves up. It's just so *RIGHT*. And Jared refusing it at first and then being like 'NO! Obviously I will hug you now.' And Peter having just hugged Dawson and feeling all 'MUST TOUCH JARED'. I love his slight smile like it's a joke, but how QUICKLY he is okay with it not being a joke.

And most of all OH MY GOD BRECKIN MEYER'S WRIST HELLO. HOW DID YOU EVER GROW SO BEAUTIFUL? DUDE.

I love that Peter is going to hug him with both of his arms on the outside, sort of like just *holding* him, but Jared stops him and sneaks his (beautiful insanely beautiful) arm over Peter's shoulder, and then he HUGS HIM SO WELL and like Peter kind of does a manly patting thing, but Jared just SQUEEZES HIM TIGHT and I just love them. I love that they hugged. I love Jared's face afterwards. I have literally NO IDEA what Peter does after their hug because even when I try to look I just look at Jared being THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING ON THE PLANET.

Sorry. I will go away and attempt sleep. I'm not very good at sleep.

Maybe the fandom thing is because it's on cable? Network tv automatically gets more viewers, so... idk.

I don't think anyone thought this show would be anything but a bit shit, you know? Like, you hear it described and you think 'oh, that's show sounds terrible.', but it's secretly awesome. And only we know it's secret.

I'm sad that Reed Diamond didn't pull more Dollhouse fans in. And perhaps we've vastly overestimated how many people love Breckin Meyer. (because I thought it was everyone) Maybe Raising the Bar fans couldn't take seeing Mark-Paul fail at being a lawyer again. It's really unexplainable.

About The Bangover, the thing that was weird to me was that when the guys realized Carmen got laid, they're all like 0_o WTF, what did you do?? instead of just being happy she got lucky, like they assume the only person Carmen's ever gonna sleep with is Dante.
Unless they know her so well they can recognized her after sex with Dante face, in that case, never mind me...

The way I read it I didn't think they were really weird about Carmen having sex, I think Jared has a slight smile and they're kind of being teasing about it more than anything. Then she says it was Dante nearly immediately and they're more wtf about it.

I honestly had no idea who Breckin Meyer was pre-FnB. I recognized his name from the Robot Chicken credits, but that was it. I figured MPG would be the bigger draw here, like from the Saved By the Bell days or the NYPD Blue days? I followed him from Raising the Bar, because I eat TnT law shows like candy over the summer, but Raising the Bar, I don't think ever got a huge following.

I understand the cable aspect of it, but these heterosexual life mates are practically crawling all over each other more than JD and Turk and I was SURE the slash buzzers would go off in fangirls around the world...

Sometimes shows just seem to slip by fandom. Did you see Crusoe a few years back? It was Crusoe and Friday on an island LOVING EACH OTHER MORE THAN WAS REALLY POSSIBLE, and fandom just didn't bat an eyelid in its direction. It's really sad when shows get skipped over.

I'd never heard of Breckin Meyer either. Or Mark-Paul Gosselaar. And I thought it just looked rubbish. Downloading it anyway was the best thing I ever did.

It's kind of bizarre that it doesn't have a bigger fandom, on account of it being amazing. But then it's bizarre that it's amazing, so maybe people didn't notice it was going to be. Like dannygirl says, it's just secretly awesome.

I know what you mean. (and I don't think you're too judgey) There's a surprising lack of 'no homo' type stuff on this show. I don't feel like I (as a fan) am getting laughed at when I think that the boys have an awesome, deep relationship. (please, writers, don't screw it up in s2)

The "no homo" thing, in general, just weirds me out and confuses me. I hang around hardcore, deep Southern Baptist/other strong Christian 20something boys, and if I had to hazard a guess, I would assume that those would be the ones most likely to be all homophobic and "no homo" after everything....but some of them are the most ironically touchy-feely guy-on-guys I've ever met... (Ex: Guy 1- "I'm going to be sad when Guy 2 leaves. Then I'll have no one to spoon with." Me- "...what?" Guy 1- "Spoon. You heard me. *proceeds to crawl all over Guy 2*")

I think platonic friendships are super, super awesome and fun when written out well. :) Not to harsh on the slash squee or anything, but super deep friendships without sex are really, really cool to see too. Sometimes people just bond really, really well. :)

I think it's less prevelant in RL. *nods* It's like tv execs (and movie ones too) take such pains not to "offend" anyone (middle america?) that they go over the top on everything.

I love platonic love! :D (honestly, for me, I love that this fandom is a bit on the fluffy side with all the cuddles and where lots of stuff can be read as both 'yes they're having sex' and 'they have an awesomely close and fantastic friendship') And I think if those execs would stop assuming that the majority of their audiance are hate mongers and let some gay relationships casually slip through (without it being a special event/stereotypical) they'd be less of a need to slash all the things. ^_^

I liked the temp in The Bangover. I didn't think she was annoying just very eager to please. She seemed young to me, I don't know I think I just like people who want to do a good job but sort of end up bumbling and it makes me feel for them :)

And I liked the Carmen story because I like learning about histories and I sort of want to meet her family because it sounds like it'd be a big ol' mess, idk...

And, I liked all the clothing in the episode it all looked comfortable and good and that is all ^^

I liked the temp, too. I like tidy people, even though I would be annoyed if she moved my stuff, she probably moved it to OBVIOUS SENSIBLE PLACES. I would be rubbish at living in the cave, and just tidy it all the time until they quietly moved out because they couldn't stand it.

And I was glad they gave Carmen a storyline, she totally deserved one, and I like that they did something with her criminal past and stuff. Also I like when Jared appoints himself her lawyer and then checks that that's okay, like she's going to go 'NO I WANT PETER, PLEASE'.

I love Nathan so, so much. I love him on a writing/narrative level, because instead of taking the easy way out of making the new boyfriend hateful they made him a really great guy. They made him genuinely love Janie, they made Janie love him back, they made their relationship realistically caring and trusting, and yet they still managed to keep some of the Peter/Janie UST. They just managed to do it without bashing Nathan, which was an incredible feat. And I also love him as a character in and of himself--he was funny and adorkable and I LOVE that he and Peter got on so well. It gave us cute jealous!Jared (ahahaha the "giant heads" quote) but it also makes a lot of SENSE for them all to get along. Of course Janie would like someone similar to Peter, of course Peter would get along with a pretty chill and cool guy, and even though Jared protested you could tell he liked Nathan too (because Nathan is like Peter is some senses). I could totally see the three of them hanging out (to Janie's exasperation). Idk what booking guest stars is like but I hope we'll see James van der Beek back in the future.

I hope he comes back too. I really haven't seen many shows that do the 'new BF of ex' well at all and it was so nice that this show didn't blow it. (F&B surprises me at how well they handle quite a few things)

And I love that Jared's jealousy was really Breckin's jealousy. Like he can't get any more adorable, and then he does.

I'm so ridiculously impressed with nearly everything they do with secondary/guest characters, but yes! This is one of the best examples of it. I think it's just LOVELY that they made him really likeable, and made Peter actually root for him marrying Janie, and genuinely want to help.

Also he was a really dorky character and they didn't make it a bad thing, and even though Peter and Jared were a bit 'what are you?' about him, they were like that in a really nice way, and I love everything that makes them seem lovely and not knobby.

Janie would be so so so pissed off if she married Nathan and then found Peter and Jared being invited over all the time to hang out and stuff.

Aaaaaaand now I'm concocting elaborate friendship-fic scenarios in which Janie comes home to find Jared and Peter and Nathan hanging out ALL THE TIME. She will wring her hands a lot at first, because she feels like she should disapprove, but over time she will soften towards their adorable bro antics because she's only human. And then one day they'll be having a video game tournament and missing a fourth player and they goad her into grudgingly picking up the controller. \o/?

The Bangover
~ Love the lightsaber fight!
~ Love the idea of them being confined to the house together - the hardship.
~ Love Infeld in this episode - everything about him is just awesome!
~ Love the casual clothes - they rock the suits but Jared in a hoodie is just adorable.
~ Love Jared silently asking for permission to be Carmen's lawyer.
~ Love seeing Peter semi-naked, especially with his guitar.
~ Love Jared's obvious jealousy.
~ Love the way they are both petrified of Dante.
~ Love Jared waving his ankle tag out of the car window!
~ Love Jared telling Peter that he wants to know what the plan is too.
~ HATE Lily and everything about her...

Batchelor Party
~ Love Nathan - I would definitely want to see more of this character.
~ Love Jared's obvious jealousy - again (and especially because we know that Breckin was jealous too!)
~ Love the way that the Janie/Nathan/Peter relationship is handled.
~ Love seeing Jared's old school, even if it does crap all over everyone's back story - again!
~ Love the way that Peter and Jared have separate cases but still manage to work them together.
~ Love the flirty relationship between Jared and Emily.
~ Love Jared's "let the cool kids have High School..." speech.
~ Love the fact that Jared tells Peter about their 'date' but somehow he's still with Peter and not her.
~ Love Jared's comment about being "that insecure, punk kid..." (because it totally plays into my back story!)
~ LOVE THE HUG! DUDE...

Okay, that was quite coherent for me, especially considering that there was hugging. It could have ended up being one giant flail! Go me... [g]
