Thanksgiving Thursday and 107 Discussion Post

Hello all!

Some of you will notice that it's a Thursday. We missed Wednesday. Also I totally missed putting a discussion post up this week and only realised today. It was sort of the least organised week in the world. I think USians have excuses because of thanksgiving, I don't have any appropriate excuses, except that sleep has somehow deserted me. Anyway, I am combining posts, I hope that's okay!


Thanksgiving Thursday
Mix together 3/4 oz gin, 3/4 oz dry vermouth, 3/4 oz apricot brandy, 1/4 oz lemon juice, and add a maraschino cherry for garnish. And give thanks.


I can't remember if someone already put this one up here, but I sort of just love it. I'm completely assuming they're having a case about a mermaid, because I have become a leetle bit obsessed lately. But also I would quite like them to find an excuse to put Breckin in a massive vat of water. Any suggestions about what's really going on here?




OH MY GOD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. That's all really I have to say about that. (Except he is wearing more than one bracelet which kind of confuses me even though I LOVE THAT HE WEARS BRACELETS.)




This is just a random picture that showed up on tumblr a bit ago. I have no idea what he thinks he is doing with himself, but I'm a bit in love with his wrists so I kind of adore it.

Anyhow, Happy Thanksgiving to the US peoples, if that is a thing that you are doing. And if it is the right day. All I really know about Thanksgiving is that it steals american tv from me, and that it's full of foods I have never tried, involving sweet potatoes and sometimes marshmallows, and pecans and STUFF. It sounds awesome. Presumably Jared refuses to go home for holidays, so Peter buys all the best pies from his favourite bakery and they stay at home with Carmen and Pindar and eat and play computer games and watch football and support different sides.

107 - Franklin vs Bash




So. Franklin, or Bash? (I was going to ask this in poll form, but I actually couldn't bring myself to because I fear my Peter!fangirl heart would be slightly destroyed by the outcome.)

Is Jared objecting for betrayal the greatest thing you have ever seen? Why don't we have fic about Jared crying when he lost his last case? Is the ketchup/mix tape/food sharing extravaganza of LOVE your favourite diner moment of all time? How hard does Infeld ship Franklin/Bash? Could having children ever make Hanna ordinary? Could Hanna and Damien love each other more? Do you not think it's weird that everyone thinks the father is somehow unreasonable not to want to let his 13 year old disappear into the amazon?

Breckin would be awesome at laughing with salad! I'm kind of addicted to the scenes with him and his shrimp roll in 'Go', so salad wouldn't be a huge leap.

They're supposed to be 33?!? I'll admit that I assumed they were 37 as that's how old they really are, but when I rewatched episode 9 Jared says that he was the class of '94, which made them 35 in my head. Did I get my American School System maths wrong again? It's so confusing...

I adore Peter's guitar playing and the fact that it makes Debbie want to kill herself, especially as he offers her AC/DC as a choice - how badly do you have to play AC/DC to make someone want to kill themselves?! I think I've basically allocated *my* taste in music to Peter and Jared, because that way all the songs on my MP3 player will remind me of them, which makes me randomly smile on my way to work!

I assumed they were 37 and it made me GLEEFUL because 37 is really old to still be living together, and to be in love, and it's getting really close to having a mid-life thing and just REALISING THEY ARE MARRIED and being okay with it.

But in YCTIWY the baseball comes from a game in 1988, and Jared says he was ten. So they cut their backstory time down by years, and made it not make a lot of sense, and I didn't notice the bit in episode 9, and lskfhakjdsf. Maybe it was a school he left at 16?

Oooooh! This would make ALOT more sense in a lot of ways... I feel like you could use that system to deage everyone on that show.... Huh.

Jared says that he was class of '94 debate team captain. I don't understand america, but might that mean just that he was debate team captain in '94, not that he actually graduated then?

Or does he maybe just not age in a linear fashion? Maybe they've built in a sort of time travel aspect to their backstory that we're all blindly missing.

I really hope that there's a secret time travel aspect to their backstory. Where they're actually 37, but where they are in history they're 33, but sometimes they forget where they are and they're 35. Or maybe it's just Jared, and he's like the time traveler and Peter is like his wife. Only it makes slightly more sense than that movie did, because instead of disappearing randomly it's like at the start of every day or something, and every morning Peter and Jared have to have a talk about which Jared he is and when they are and what their relationship is like because sometimes it's far!future Jared where he and Peter are together and married and he can't tell Peter that, he just has to let it happen, but he's always sad when he wakes up and realizes that's it's the past (and that he can't wake Peter up with kisses) by not having a ring on his finger, but also not knowing how far in the past he is.

Erm... I may have gotten a little carried away there. Tragic!Jared is tragic.

It is *always* okay to get carried away with tragic!Jared. Tragic!Jared is the best.

aksldhfowieghsudf. Knowing he was eventually going to get to be with Peter and kiss him and love him and marry him, but sometimes shooting back in time to when Peter still kissed girls and didn't touch him enough and didn't KNOW. OH. Totally beautiful.

Also sometimes he might wake up in Peter's bed, with Peter, and just assume they were together and it was happy and he'd kiss him, or snuggle, or just stroke him a bit, and then Peter would wake up and be like 'what the hell, dude?' because they were just bed sharing like they do sometimes, and it isn't meant to be all touchy and lovey and Jared would have to make up excuses and run away.

Oh, the epic tragicness of Jared prematurely kissing/snuggling Peter! And then, later, down the road when Peter sorts his feelings out pieces fall into place and he thinks back to those snuggles and kisses and wonders how he didn't see this eventuality.

I think this is further evidence of a poorly thought out back story! As I understand it, "Class of..." means the year you graduated, which would make him 35, but being 10 in 1988 would make him 33. I suspect they haven't really worked out how old they're supposed to be!

Yep, "Class of..." is definitely when you graduated. But which episode is this? Are we talking highschool, college/university or law school? Not sure about law school, but high school graduation age is 17/18 and college is 21/22/23ish.

I too blame bad backstory planning...

In episode 9 when he's back at his old high school he says that he was the Class of '94 Debate Team Captain, so if he was 18 in '94 but 10 in '88, then he managed to age 8 years over the course of 6! Just another Jared related anomaly... ;o)
