This post is for any and all discussion of the pilot episode! Squee, deep thoughts, random questions, we will take them all. Your ~feelings filtered through the medium of dance, song, .gif, vulcan poetry, absolutely anything.
There weren't many of us for the rewatch, but it was really good fun. The chat room as far as I can work out just stays there for all time, so if people do want to organise other times to chat for whatever reason, feel free to use it whenever.

Date: 2011-10-01 10:54 pm (UTC)Jared's double entendre jokes were hilarious, and I'll get wrinkles of smiling so much due to Breckin's legendary smiles
And I didn't know MPG could sing, he has such a nice voice!
Pindar and Carmen's car scene, FUNNY! Poor Carmen though...

Date: 2011-10-01 10:59 pm (UTC)It was great to see the start of so many things that go on to become so integral to the rest of the season - The parties at the man cave, Peter and Jared at the diner, the snarky relationship they have with Damien, Jared's attitude towards Janie, the craziness that is Infeld, the list goes on...
For me, I love the fact that this episode gives us naked!Peter and semi-naked!Jared. It's like we were spoiled so early on and then 'The Powers That Be' spectacularly failed to follow up on this! Maybe they're saving it for Season 2? ;o)

Date: 2011-10-01 11:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, I forgot how funny he was in this episode! And the smiling? [dies] If I could only watch Breckin do one thing, that would be it...

Date: 2011-10-01 11:02 pm (UTC)- How does anyone concentrate when Breckin Meyer's face is in the room?
- I've watched this episode a million times and never noticed before that Jared goes to the airport at the end in a bronco. I LOVE HIM. I love that he countered with a bronco, and I've been sad that they didn't get one because Peter is still driving something dull. But they totally did. They should take it everywhere.
- Everyone in chat was quite a lot agreed that post-fight hair was BEAUTIFUL and they should take more opportunities to ruffle each other up a bit.
- We were also kind of agreed that selling Jared's ass on sunset is a BEAUTIFUL PLAN. And that fic writers maybe need to get on that. They were SIX MONTHS BEHIND ON RENT THAT ONE TIME. And prostitution fic makes the world go round.
- I love everything about their entire relationship and I know it is sort of all I've said for the past three months, so I'm repeating myself, but whatever. They're just so so so good. So good. I love when Peter brings Jared pizza, and when he goes to find out why he's in trouble in the conference room, and that they fight and don't care, and that they know EVERYTHING about each other, and that they look at each other, and the WALL, THE AMAZING SADNESS OF A WALL OH GOD.
- I'm confused about the canon status of Jared/Hanna. Did they actually definitely have sex at some point? Because Hanna says that thing about how they did, but if you sort of twist EVERYTHING THEY SAY you can make it make sense that they didn't. And I want Jared to be quietly telling the truth while pretending to be lying, when he says he couldn't get it up.
- Blood Sport is totally one of the best films ever made.
- Peter singing makes me incapable of human noise.
- Actually as well as bringing Jared miniature pizza at the airport he brings Carmen hummus at the beginning. Is Peter brining people food when they want it a character trait they kept up with? Because obviously I needed more reasons to love him.
- I wasn't so sure about it when I first saw it, but now I think it's the best pilot episode of anything I've ever seen.

Breckin's legendary smiles
SERIOUSLY. And he looks at people while he's smiling and I don't understand how they cope with that.

Date: 2011-10-01 11:15 pm (UTC)And Reed Diamond tweeted something about a costume fitting for F&B the other day, which was just for speedos. He's nearly certainly just lying, but I prefer to think they're planning something beautiful.

Date: 2011-10-01 11:17 pm (UTC)I second your
shamelessrequest for prostitution fic!It does look as though Pindar interrupts proceedings between Jared and Hanna, so I was also a bit confused when she does the unicorns speech. Then again, I think I was too distracted by the unicorn imagery to concentrate on anything else!

Date: 2011-10-01 11:20 pm (UTC)The only reason I'll be buying the DVD box set is in the hope of deleted scenes and a decent gag reel. Do not disappoint me, makers of the DVDs!

Date: 2011-10-01 11:25 pm (UTC)I KNOW, RIGHT!!!! and they said on the web chat video that they didn't make many takes...maybe the unicorns casted a anti-Breckin's smiles spell for the crew and cast so it wouldn't be an inconvenience...
AGREE, I would sell everything I own to pay for that, lol, and was it just me or Carmen agreed too?

The pilot is awesome. I never planned to watch the show because from the promos, it didn't look like my kind of programme but my bf and I were watching the show before it, left the channel on and I fell into one of the greatest comic dramas of my life XD
As has been said before me, it sets up so many of the running themes of the show, not least the awesome bromance that is Peter & Jared. For a pilot it was extremely well put together and all the characters and relationships were completely believable.
In conclusion; this show rocks and long may it

Oh! I love them so much. Maybe if Jared had an unhappy childhood very possibly he just loved happy tv land where everyone lived together and loved each other and has set up his life appropriately.
