Okay, so we've had a pretty good response to the season rewatch poll. And then I realised that Saturdays were kind of winning - and I think they make the most sense - so I figured I should maybe put up a follow-up post sooner than later.

If we set the first date for the first episode as Saturday 1 October, at 11pm UTC would that suit everyone okay? I know it's slightly short notice. It means afternoon for most of america I think, and quite a late night for anyone east of the UK. (The link hopefully takes you to a page that tells you what time that will be in your country.)

I haven't really done a fandom watch-along thing for years so I'm not totally sure how it'll work, I'd love any suggestions you want to throw my way. Genuinely do just tell me if all this seems horrible to you, if I'm ignoring something massive, or forgetting something obvious.

Providing most people say the day and time's alright, I'll put up a post on the day a little way in advance, and then a comment when it's time to start. Then we can just see how it goes.

If anyone can't make it to the live watchalong, or just doesn't want to, you can absolutely watch the episode in your own time and then turn up to talk about it any time afterwards. Either comment in the rewatch post, or you can make a separate discussion post, or wait until that week's wednesday post. Pretty much whatever you like really, we're a pretty small community so there's absolutely no need to be shy.

I can provide a link to the episode if people need it, probably on megaupload/megavideo, or I can put it up for download before hand. But if anyone already has it uploaded somewhere that would be really helpful. (ruyu, are you okay with download links so long as they're flocked? Obviously if not then I won't do that.)

I don't mean to keep spamming you with polls for the rest of my life or anything, but I know they're easier to respond to than bothering leaving a comment:

ETA: emeraldsnakes has suggested we use a chatroom, rather than talking in comments. If you have a big preference one way or the other can you let me know, either in comments or in the text box of the poll. I sort of think a chatroom might be an easier way to keep up with everyone, but livejournal sometimes lets you have more different conversations all going on at once, so I'm happy to go with majority vote on that one.

Although. I've never actually participated in a watch along via LJ. Usually we use LJ to set it up and then chat in a chatroom like chatzy or something else. It feels more like we're actually watching together, least to me.

Oh! See, I hadn't even thought of that. That's probably easier in terms of keeping up with what everyone's saying, isn't it? Rather than scrolling up and down threads.

No problem. I'd also get a feel for what chatroom site people are most comfortable with using. If its Chatzy then there's a bit of a problem due to the fact that unless you have a paid room you can only have ten people in the room at a time.

The only other site I know of is Meebo, which can be confusing using it for the first time, but has no limitation to number of users.

I had no idea Chatzy limited things to ten people, that is very awkward of it. There's always zippychat, which I've not used much, and is not very private, but seems to just let anyone in, and is simple enough. We could probably take a chance on no one bothering us if we were just there for an hour or so.

I worry with Meebo that it gets a bit more complicated to organise than just putting up a link and hoping people show up, I think.

If you're going with the chatroom option, would we then make an LJ post for the people who want to discuss (perhaps at more length, perhaps with more gifs) after rather than live? I like LJ discussions because unlike a chatroom, you can go back and read/reply/start new convos for days or weeks afterwards.

And yeah, chat rooms do rather throw things into the wind, which is a shame.

That's cool. You can always change your votes in polls by clicking on the poll number, and then going to 'fill out poll'. You don't have to, but just so you know:)

I'm probably going to have to miss the first rewatch, because I'll be in Philly with my father's parents, but Saturdays at this time should be fine for me after that. I hope I can at least come to discussion! :>
