Timeline

Okay so I thought even while most stuff for this rewatch is going on on tumblr, we could have like informational things over here where they'll survive and be findable.

I'm going to start a timeline, and add information into it whenever we come across it in episodes. I'm keeping it mainly with stuff we find out in this episode, rather than just stuff we know, but I've put in the beginning and the end as well. So so far it looks like this:


???? - Born

???? - Jared (alone or with Peter) goes to Indian Guide Camp.

???? - Jared possibly bets his freshman tuition against the lakers something.

2002 - Jared joins mile high club (alone), over Denver.

2010 - Jared makes them leave town because he thinks there's going to be an earthquake which there isn't.

2010 - (June-ish) Peter and Janie break up.

???? - Janie dates a civil war re-enactor with a soul patch.

2011 - (June) Go to work for INFELD DANIELS.

2014 - (October) They play the worst game of roulette ever.


And these are things that need to go in there somewhere but we don't actually really know where in relation to the things above:

???? - Peter (briefly?) works for a big firm. Or at least gets a job offer there.
???? - Peter has soul patch.
???? - (while dating Janie) Peter rubs her feet, and hires a plane banner, and writes an entire rock opera to the music from rent.
???? - Carmen is arrested.

Yes yes. We should totally double archive stuff. I don't know if you saw the stats post I did over on tumblr, but I figure I can do one massive catalogue post at the end of the rewatch and post it here, so we can take out irrelevant stuff or whatever.

I like the ??? -Born because it seems so mysterious, like perhaps they just popped into existence or something.

I don't know if we should include stuff like this but... at some point (possibly while Peter and Janie dated) Peter had a soul patch. I don't know why I feel like this is important, but it might be. You know, for like in the past fics where Jared complains about Peter's terrible facial hair choices.

And when Peter and Janie were going out Peter did stuff like rubbing her feet even though he thinks feet are weird and he'd rather not be reminded of them, wrote a musical using the songs from Rent, but all his own lyrics, and rented a plane to trail a banner.

Yes, I think a soul patch is probably important enough for the timeline. And all the other stuff, have added it all in:)

And we don't *know* they were born, we're just assuming. It might just be that they've always existed, like they're part of the universe's make up, and they just fit into people's lives randomly as though they've always been there. Or something.

And yes, a massive stats post seems like a good plan. I thought I might make another post like this one for character things, like a list of loves and hates maybe for the main characters, or just anything we find out about them? Or would that overlap too much with yours?

They've totally probably always existed. Or they're time travelers perhaps. I know we had a time traveler's wife theory for Jared, so they could very well both be immortal time traveling beings.

I think that'd be a good idea, a character trait thing post. I figure that this is a team effort. We can always go through all the info that we've gathered at the end and decide where to put what. I'd rather have too much than not enough you know?

And I was sort of going by episode for fining, like, description!fic, and we don't have much of that the first season, but if I find some I'll link it in the appropriate tumblr ep stats post and then we can probably do an individual post here for that too.

You know, I was thinking that in Pilot, Hanna and Damien's break up seem recently, it sounds like it's fresh for him and they break up when she got hired to work on I/D. So maybe they broke it off, like a year before pilot? It looks like it was the same amount of time Peter and Janie were appart...

Oh, I totally forgot about Hanna and Damien. And yeah, it's hard to work out when they broke up. I think Hanna has obviously been at I/D for a while, but they still act like it was a recent break. Maybe they stayed together for a bit when she moved there, but then Damien decided it wasn't ethical. Or maybe the HR department found out about them and wanted them to have one of those interviews Jared and Ellen have to have, and he gets all flustered and breaks up with her?

Jared bet his freshman tuition against the Lakers three-peat, which is a term that originated in 1988 when the Lakers were trying to get what would have been a third successive NBA championship during their 88-89 season.
I'm gonna assume that Jared’s probably talking about his high school freshman year, which would put his birth year in the 1974-1975 range (to start high school at 14 or 15)… I mean, he could be talking about college freshman year, but that would put his birth year in the 1970-1971 range, which would make him four or some years older than Breckin Meyer actually is, which doesn’t seem right. Unless this is a case of him being unstuck in time.


I dunno if this is something we should add to the time line, but Damien was summa cum laude at SC (I’m thinking University of Southern California, it’s super old and super fancy and has a law school which it’s website describes as “a private, highly selective national law school with a 100-year history and a reputation for academic excellence” which sounds exactly like what Damien would go to.) and notes editor of the law review (law school published law journal) and summa would require at least a 3.9 gpa, so it's probably like Damien and his amazing ability to do paperwork.
But this doesn't help as far as when Damien went to law school, so idk.
