franklin_bashSad news that we probably knew was maybe coming.
Franklin and Bash has been cancelled.
There's no bright side to this, but through the tears and over the sounds of our hearts shattering, never to be repaired, I think we can try to remember the good times, the lovely characters they probably didn't realize they were creating, the plot points that we predicted and they gave us, and, of course, the undeniable love between Peter and Jared.
And, with canon closed, I'm pretty sure they legally belong to us now.
Who wants to hug it out?

But also I want to say how much I love this fandom and all the people in it; I loved the show to bits but you all made it even better. There mightn't have been many of us, but still.
And hopefully Breckin and MP will quickly start making films together now, or another series, or a spinoff, or just film us new episodes while they're on the golf course or holidaying in Hawaii or whatever. They're not to stop being in love just because TNT are idiots.

And, you know, fandom is forever. Fandom doesn't stop. (it's so hard to not be total despair right now)

That has to be the plan. Big, full of love movies, and F&B web episodes. Because, yes, they love each other way too much to just, like, what, never see each other again.
I kind of want to storm the TNT main offices and flay them for being so redic and unfair, but I'm trying really hard to hold my rage.

Date: 2014-11-12 03:16 pm (UTC)And yes, I feel sure that if we could just TALK to the tnt people, possibly for several hours, possibly with powerpoint and pictorial aids, we could make them see how ridiculous they're being and how amazing it would be if they just advertised it properly and gave us more episodes and more open relationship threesome pregnancy occurrences.
And fandom is totally forever. I will always be here if you feel like talking randomly about Breckin's suits, or doing a bit of a rewatch at some point maybe.

But idk. Does that seem like a thing to do? (it's like a weird nesting reaction to them being ours. ;) all info about them can't just be out there willy nilly)

So yeah, it was all falling apart. Which is just... how come Breckin's face doesn't hold everything together? It seems very much like it should.

Date: 2014-11-12 02:44 pm (UTC)Season Four was so perfectly for us, the kiss and 'I love you' and everything in between, it was like they were saying thank you and goodbye.
I've noticed quite a few shows are having their final seasons and actually telling us it's their final season, I'm not sure why they didn't do that for this one. Maybe if they had, the numbers might have been better.
I shall be very sad about it for a long time.
They better give us some spectacular extras on the S4 DVDs...

And it's a good season to go out on. I suppose. Even if they never gave us a christmas episode. Or a baby. Or an elephant.

They should have given us a Christmas episode with Jared finding a baby elephant...

Like, I feel bad thinking that I'm okay with how it ended (because I don't think I'm ever going to actually be okay with it ending at all), but, like, if it had to be done... I was kind of worried that another season would have lead to something permanent, like a non threesome Jared Ellen wedding or Peter and Jared deciding that they needed to "grow up" and that they didn't need each other any more or something equally horrible... esp if they for sure knew it was going to be their last. This way it's really open and anything is plausible.
Still never going to be over it though.
Yes. We need all the extras. What I really want is, like, a full series dvd boxset with all the extras that they didn't really bother with for any season, because those have to be around somewhere.

Date: 2014-11-12 08:38 pm (UTC)They won't have any of the sets or other characters, so they could make it like they cut all ties and moved to Austin to work for the chive but then that was just that prank guy pulling a prank on them and there was no job and then they're homeless and jobless and open a small law office in a small town and the show is mostly about them eating breakfasts together and going for long walks on the beach and cuddling on the settee. Perfect.

I got my friend to watch Franklin and Bash by saying it's like Shawn and Gus as lawyers) and now Franklin and Bash is over and there's only four short seasons but man they were great
Maybe Netflix or Amazon can be convinced to pick it up for direct to streaming. They already did that rather than give us DVDs, not such a hard leap to just give us all the episodes that way.

It's from the early eighties, so you have to forgive it a little bit, but it's also the most beautiful friendship/buddy pairing, and it's funny and really lovely. Nick and Cody are best friends who live on a boat together and work as private investigators, and their love reminds me of Peter and Jared a lot.

Damnit! I had to come here (haven't been on LJ in ages) to check if there are other ppl mourning the loss of the show. I don't want the party to end just yet. We're doing a rewatch right now, mostly over on tumblr, http://franklinandbashrewatch.tumblr.com , and we're at the third episode of the first season, so you can always come over and chat about eps there if you'd like. (though we may reference things from later eps)
We're kind of a terrible fandom for fic writing (though there is some)... we're much better a "description fics" which is basically just describing what kind of fic you'd like to write but aren't going to ever get around to writing. lol. There's a bit of that in the episode specific posts, esp for season 2 on. (I've got a F&B tag on my lj that has a bit of "description fic" among other stuff http://odannygirl7.tumblr.com/search/franklin+and+bash/page/30 ... but beware spoilers because it S3 and S4 heavy)
We're very much a nice, small, drama free fandom (I'm not sure if we've ever really had wank), so yay for you being here and we <3 you joining us!
