season 2 ep 7 Summer Girls discussion

Heya all!

Tonight? Peter and Jared ask for Hanna's help in the court martial of two sailors charged with assaulting personnel, but Jared and Peter don't realize there is an ulterior motive that Hanna has in mind. Meanwhile, Pindar settles a dispute between co-owners regarding the virtual business they own. 


We just had the hottest day of the year so far in my neck of the woods. How about you guys?

Does anyone else feel like this episode should have been closer to the beginning of the season? (and maybe last weeks should have been earlier too?)

Hooray for Hanna!

The Pindar plot was a little off... but I like him and Infeld together and the 'unique presentation' bit was worth it. Too adorbs.

Needed more Carmen.

Neither Jared nor Peter bothered to wear even a navel hat, let alone a whole uniform. Massive disappointment.

The shooting range was awesome. And now we know that Jared would welcome a zombie apocalypse.

I really liked the kick ass navy girls.

Huge Damien feels. His body image issues, his weirdness over being at strip clubs, his questionable dillying with summer associates... the way he just looks confused all the time, this season is full of Damien feels for me.

Bonus points for inviting Hanna to the Diner at the end. They think she's one of them. Aww. Boys.

Peter and Jared being the ones who got the former stripper into the summer associate program. <3 (extra <3 for that weirding out Damien.)


I'm sure there was more. ( I was distracted by White Collar, which promised hurt/comfort but refused to deliver in any acceptable way. ergh.)

That was a weird kind of blank episode for me in some ways, but it's almost a relief, they had to start having a couple of not TOTALLY KILLING ME WITH EMOTION episodes eventually, and next week looks amazing because oh god Peter, OH GOD. Peter and Dead Bodies makes me extraordinarily happy. Also is next week roller derby too? I feel like they're running out of time for roller derbying.

I like that they shot guns. I noticed that Jared didn't get shot AGAIN. And I noticed that at NO POINT did Peter put even a hat on. I know it would have been difficult to find an excuse for Peter to dress up as a . . . it wouldn't have been THAT HARD to find Peter an excuse to dress up as a fucking sailor. FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Why are the people in charge of Mark-Paul Gosselaar so BAD at being in charge of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, I know they're not entirely bad, OH GOD putting him near Jared is enough for me on a lot of levels, I like episodes when they don't have separate cases, we've had a lot of them making each other happy in court this year. But Peter totally admitted to beautiful officer and a gentleman feels and then at no point dressed up as an officer and gave Jared his hat. LKSDHFOWJEKFM WHY?

I love Damien, I love that he stopped his friends from being handsy, and I love that he was weird about his abs again, and although seeing him all half naked and confused in a car was amazing, really it just made me want to see him eating cheese again. It's terrible having a bit of a damien/cheese kink because every think you say about it sounds like a TERRIBLE euphemism.

Hanna trying to get Peter and Jared fired still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. THEY INVITED HER TO THE DINER. I LOVE THEM SO.

I like how much they're going for Pindar/Infeld. I am not really, I just totally believe that Infeld is sleeping with Peter in an inappropriate way that makes Peter uncomfortable even though I don't think I have ANY evidence at all. And Pindar only loves Karp. But I like that canon likes Pindar/Infeld.

My thoughts on this episode are many and I'm not exactly sure where to begin. As to the timing of it, I guess they had to allow Hanna time to accumulate 52 pages of "evidence" against Peter and Jared only to delete it when she realized she was exactly like that female navy captain--she set them up to fail. But, unfortunately, that begs the question of why make them equity partners in the first place.

Also, where did this idea come from that it's morally wrong to sleep with someone from work. I get if you say "sleep with me and I'll give you a good performance review" or some such, but two consenting adults should be allowed to do whatever. As long as there's no coercion or abuse of power, it should be ok. Having said that, I didn't sleep with my husband until I'd left the firm we'd both worked at but I might has well have because everyone thought we were going at it.

I guess I'm liking that Hanna is doing stuff with Peter and Jared because it gives her something to do. She was in jeopardy of becoming a plot device like Carmen is.

Damien was interesting. I mean, seriously, think about it. You've seen this hot young woman a couple of times at a strip club and she shows up at work!!! OMG, what is happening!!! is exactly the right reaction. I like that they have Damien be shy around people who openly profess to desire him (Lance and Alyssa). It makes for an interesting change to the face he generally presents to the world (or tries to).

I liked that Damien was a bit hurt when Alyssa said she wanted to explore family law at Infeld Daniels. Like, did I just gamble and lose big time? I just hope they don't warp the whole thing so this one indiscretion comes back to bite Damien in the ass. He's made a mistake and clearly knows it, because he and Alyssa are planning to hook up once she moves on. Let's let the morality clause story line die here please. Pretty please.

Pindar and Stanton are yawn worthy, sadly. Other than that story line, decent show.

I like Hanna better for deleting that document. But the fact that she made it in the first place still gives a rational hatred of her.

The Pindar storyline seem like ripped off from a Disney Channel show...Ughhh

I loved Peter and Jared being all too proud at first to ask Hanna for help, because they're big boys and can do things by themselves, BUT NO REALLY, NOT ALL THE TIME...

Peter shoot the soccer mom for being late to practice? Mommy issues, much? I wonder how many times did Colleen was late for soccer practice because she was busy being all hippie and awesome with something? But I bet she made it up for him everytime...

WHERE IS PETER IN HIS NAVY UNIFORM??
