fic: Insomnia
Title: Insomnia

Summery: Jared really hates his father and Peter helps him cope.

Notes: Takes place during You Can’t Take It With You. I wrote this simply because I’m sick of waiting for more Franklin & Bash fanfiction (Hint to all other writers.)

Jared couldn’t sleep. He never could after being around his father. He always ended up with a bad case of insomnia around the holidays and now he was having it again.
He did all the things he normally did when he couldn’t sleep: he ‘relaxed’ himself, he soaked in the hot tub, he played video games; but after 3 hours, at 4 in the morning, he finally realized there was no way he was getting to sleep on his own.
He knocked quietly at Peter’s door. When he didn’t get an answer he stuck his head in and whispered his best friend’s name.
Peter opened his eyes and squinted at the light coming from the door. “Jared?”
“No, it’s Pintar.”
“Very funny. What’s wrong?”
Jared shifted awkwardly. “You know what, nothing. Never mind. Go back to sleep, I’ll see you later.”
“Jared!” Peter called before Jared could close the door.
“What?”
Peter lifted the covers. “Get your short ass over here.”
Jared smiled and practically dove on to the bed. He loved having a best friend that always knew exactly what he needed.
Once they had settled comfortably against each other Peter decided to break the short silence. “This about your dad?”
“What else?”
“You can’t let him get to you,” Peter said as he ran a hand through Jared’s hair.
Jared sighed. “I can’t help it. He’s just always been so...urg.”
“I know, I know. And I know it’s never been easy for you. I’m here, though, any time. Okay?”
Jared nodded.
“Also, next time don’t keep me up for hours wandering around before you come do something about your insomnia, okay?”
Jared grinned a little. “Fine.”
They fell into silence. After a few minutes Jared’s breathing slowed as he fell asleep. Peter drifted off not long after.
In the morning they would wake up tangled together. Neither of them would mention anything talked about the night before, but both knew that for at least a few days while the case went on Peter would be playing host to Jared in his bed. Not that he ever minded.

Anyway, loved it. So adorable and just, them. They play off each other so well in the series, and I feel like you captured that here. And I like that, haha. I also think that Jared is the most cute thing in the world.
