Season 2 ep 2 reaction post
20 or so minutes to ep 2, ladies (and any gents out there too!).
Our quick synopsis: Jared and Peter try their first manslaughter case when they defend a wannabe crime fighter (Sean Astin) accused of chasing down a man who later died. Meanwhile, Peter's mom (Jane Seymour) arrives with some news that results in a change of living arrangements for her son. And Pindar seeks Carmen's help in battling his phobias.
Sean Astin and Mama Bash. :D How much more fun can you get.
I won't be here for the live reactions tonight. But i'll be around to catch the repeat or else the download. Whatever i see or get my greedy little paws on first.
Reactions, gripes, general silly and spoilers galore down below in comments.
Have fun and i'll catch you guys later! I can't wait to read the comments again! *waves and runs off*

What I wrote during the episode
Like, what is the deal with Pindar’s college blondie? Where did she get the idea from that she can fix Pindar? I hope it turns out that she’s a certified therapist or something, because right now I think she’ll endanger Pindar’s mental health even more.
Just turned out she has a restraining order filed against her. This … show, what the frack are you doing? Pairing one character with mental health issues with another character with mental health issues? Just no. If you decide to include serious issues like this, do it with the dignity and respect it deserves.
And Sean Astin’s character? That just feels wrong … I really think his character would be better served in a mental hospital. Something’s off with him, and I think he needs help.
The cave’s layout confuses me endlessly. Why did they change everything and pretend they didn’t?
Jane Seymour is still a really beautiful woman, but I don’t like how they use her character to embarrass Peter all the time. However, I do like that Jared’s not the slightest bit surprised that Peter was a bed-wetter till he was eleven.
Also, why is Janie still in the show? And why did they write her postponing the wedding? I don’t want her to become a love interest for Peter again. That part of his story is over and done, you hear me?
The case with the superhero breaks my heart, and I feel like it’s my fault. I demanded more drama in the survey TNT let us fill out. I didn’t mean heartbreaking cases, though. I meant more drama with Jared and Peter and their personal lives. Like daddy!issues (omg, is Peter’s mom being embarrassing for him my fault as well?!?), or Jared taken hostage. I didn’t mean Jared breaking his client’s heart on the witness stand.
Apparently, the Janie-storyline isn’t over and done with. Why, show, why?
I love the fact that Jared knows what pre-cogs are. I love Jared.
I think I actually like Peter’s love interest.
So, I think I have figured out why they make Jared a badass lawyer all of a sudden. Every time he has to break a client’s heart, or be mean to him, he loses a bit of himself, and towards the end of the season he’ll decide it’s not worth it, and will want to leave. And Peter, who’s been worried all season long over how hard Jared takes these cases, will be conflicted because a) money, partner, steady life, and b) Jared’s happiness.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I agree! I think that's where they're heading with it too. Peter knew what Jared was going to do as soon as he stopped Peter showing the evidence. I think Peter knows what Jared is capable of, even if Jared's not happy about it, I think he chooses not to be like that because it's too much like his father, but it's still there.
Also Officer Wendy is really rather hot. I might've made noises at the beginning *g*
Re: What I wrote during the episode
Yes, absolutely! That is one of my favourite things about Jared. Among ALL my favourite things about Jared.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
It's like fate. And Jared knows it. And, headcanon, that's why he went pre-med instead of pre-law. And why he wanted a small, not corporate law practice, helping the underdogs. Because he knew that being a hard ass, blood thirsty, snake of a lawyer is in his blood. And he's doing it all because he knows it's what Peter wants, what'll make Peter happy. It's all so tragic.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
And yet Peter's heart is breaking because Jared's going down a path he really doesn't want to...
Re: What I wrote during the episode
In the end its all about the both of them. We're just getting a nice little arc with them getting their ethics challenged greatly. Whatever happens, will be glorious to the bromance, but i'm wondering how much closer it'll throw them. Cause i can't see Infeld splitting them up, no matter what Daddy Franklin has up his sleeve on why they were hired.
Jared will come out stronger and probably figure out how to win(or steer) those cases without being a bastard, with Peter right behind him every step of the way. Cause that's how our lovely boys roll.
*both fingers crossed behind my back*
Re: What I wrote during the episode
And then I'll shout at Peter to make it all better.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with it and unless they completely jump the shark, it's going to be awesome.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I REALLY HOPE THEY'RE GOING HERE, I LOVE IT SO HARD IF THEY'RE GOING HERE. I think it has to be something a bit like this, only with extra huge daddy issues on top, and lidhfoiwefs.
They did totally manage to make Peter's love interest not totally boring, but there's nothing about her that will make me sad not to see more of her. Although MPG kissing people is always LOVELY, there could be more of that.
But not with Janie.
And you're right about the mental health/pindar stuff, I'm just not letting it bother me because I can't be bothered, but it's rubbish and sort of nothingy all at once.
Maybe next time they have a survey we'll have to be more clear with our wishes in the write in boxes, we can give them bullet point lists and they can just fulfil them all.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
OH GOD I WATCHED THAT BIT SO MANY TIMES!!!! And and the way he decided she wasn't biting his lip too hard *HEAD SPLODEY* He got that from Jared - just saying'
And amen on the daddy issues, I have a feeling there's going to be some shit going down come the end of the season and I will be all \o/ and then all sweaty because we'll have to wait NINE months to find out what happened (I am of course assuming that they'll give us a S3) - they will give us a S3 right? *clings*
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I love all the ways Peter touches people because my head just edits it straight into touching Jared and that is AWESOME. Also OH GOD HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL, HIS MOUTH AND HIS SKIN AND HIS WHOLE FACE AND HIS MOUTH.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
He kisses with his whole body. I can imagine Jared getting overwhelmed by the awesomeness of that.
I need some MPG icons...
Re: What I wrote during the episode

MMMMNGNNSMGMNNDNNMMMMMM. Yes. Yes. I love him.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I think cable works differently to network tv? I don't know, but Leverage is on the same station and they get to choose when they stop. Bit that might be because the guys producing it actually fund it too..
And I"ve watched that scene AGAIN...I don't think I mind that being the opening scene very much at all *g*
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I'm not going to lie, I fast-forwarded through all of Pindar's backstory once I got the gist. I feel kind of like how Jared reacted. "Well, that's..." *walks away*
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I didn't ff through it, but, yeah, same reaction as Jared to the whole Pindar thing. I'm getting such uncomfortable vibes from it... like when you know there's going to be a car crash and you're just waiting for it to happen.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
I think the problem with Sean Astin's character might have been Seas Astin? Like... I think it could have worked out, but Sean just didn't have enough fun with it maybe? They either needed to dial it back, or ramp it up a whole lot more.
I also can't deal with Janie and her whole deal. There is no amount of why that expresses my feeling about it.
It's like the whole cave is backwards. So much oddness.
I felt so bad for Peter. Totally embarrassed for him. Also, I think Jared already knew that Peter was a bed wetter til eleven. Like, dude, we totally had sleepovers at that age. I didn't care then, I don't care now. Which is adorable.
If they do not go for the obvious terrible, terrible angst of Jared basically turning into his father I will simply die. They have to be going for that. How could they not have that?
Re: What I wrote during the episode
There are things I really don't like this season, and I know we are only 2 episodes in so we have much more to see, but so far I'm quite uncertain overall...
Re: What I wrote during the episode
Re: What I wrote during the episode
Yes! I sort of ended up thinking this as well, he didn't seem to really fit in and it was hard to know if it was a badly written case, or the acting, but I think it was probably a little of both. I hated the guy whose super hero power was stopping women from going home drunk with guys because . . . because so many things.
Jared being lovely to Peter about him being embarrassed by his mum, was just like seeing a snapshot of Jared doing exactly that at every stage of Peter's ENTIRE LIFE, and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
Oh, I know... that guy was so gross. Like, I get what they were going for, but it ended up being really, really ugh.
I can see it happening. Colleen probably even showed up at school a few times, totally humiliating Peter by shouting out something terrible in the hallway, and while everyone else snickered, Jared would just pat Peter on the back and lead him into class and comfort him by making up something similar about someone famous and it wouldn't be until years later that Peter finally realized that all those "facts" were just Jared trying to make him feel better.
Re: What I wrote during the episode
If this was a thing it might break me inside.
