I expect canon will turn out to be some awful alternate universe, where Jared just looks at Bear and half feels something for a second, but then shakes it off and tells himself sternly that it's just a bear, and Bear can't move, can't even blink, just has to watch Jared walk away from him. But that's an AU I can sort of live with.
