106 - Big Fish


TV Rage - "When a wealthy CEO expresses interest in putting Franklin and Bash on retainer, the guys think they have hit the jackpot. However, the CEO's questionable and unethical behavior could potentially land the lawyers in hot water. Meanwhile, Karp and Hanna seek Pindar's assistance in landing a new client."





So, yesterday, when we weren't distracted by Peter as a merman, we watched Big Fish. Tell me all your thoughts about this thing. It's the one where Jared wants to go to prison, but Peter can't go to prison because he's a walking desert cart. There should be more prison fic. It's the one where Peter tells Debbie how he seduces women and they end up having sex in a bouncy house. There should be bouncy house fic. It's the one where Jared is amused and in love with everything Ellen says. There should probably be Jared/Ellen fic. (I just CANNOT LOOK AT IT for some reason. The reason of how it would destroy Peter's heart.) It's the one where they talk about being months behind on rent. There should be MORE PROSTITUTION FIC THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT. It's the one where Jared says he'll give Peter a warm hand. There should just be literally ALL THE FIC.

That's basically how our discussion went last night. But possibly there are deep and meaningfuls that we missed.

One of my favourite Pindar/Damien moments is Pindar going 'he's so scary' after him when he leaves, in the most 'oh god he is beautiful' voice in the world. Pindar and Carmen are both brilliant in this, and I love seeing Damien and Hanna working together.

(How does Peter get that many of Jared's toenails? Because he's cross that he's leaving them in the sink, and I'm sorry, but if there are that many toenails in the sink then they're actually living in some sort of evil death palace. And the other option is that Peter has been collecting them for ages. I . . . don't know how I feel about that.)

I'm already half asleep and therefore not coherent, but I needed to let you know that the idea of creepy!stalker!Peter collecting Jared's toenails for MONTHS made me laugh for several minutes.

I'm kind of assuming he just really wanted to make his point, so he'd been keeping them and then picked a fight when he finally had enough PROOF. Because otherwise he's just a little bit scary. Or Jared's toenails grow fast enough that he has to cut them three or four times a day, which is sad for Peter's dislike of feet.

*giggles* Jared/Ellen FTW! They would have an entire relationship based upon how much they hate Janie. And then Ellen would be all prickly and standoffish and Jared would be head-over-heels for her thinking happy thoughts and being overly romantic and writing bad poetry just to tick her off. It would amuse me greatly.

Sadly, though, I feel the way about Damien/Pindar as I think you feel about Jared/Ellen. :-/ I just don't see it. I mean, I could see Pindar with a crush, because I could see Pindar being in love with EVERYONE, but...but... Damien and Hanna make such a scary, scary awesome team!

That being said, I did like the Damien&Pindar(&Hanna) scenes. I like the idea of the two of them stealing Pindar and corrupting him for their own nefarious purposes. And then FnB are like, "Wait, what?" And KnL are all, "Mwahahahahahhaha! Success!" And Pindar's all, "Suck it, fools!" And Carmen, being the only sane one in the room, shakes her head and goes to make herself another drink.

I'm normally almost okay about my otp sometimes being with other people, but with Jared . . . I don't know, it just makes me want to die. I'm fine about him sleeping with women and maybe even liking them a bit, but not . . . not sort of caring. That sounds awful, but it's true. And it's a shame, because yes, everything you say about Ellen/Jared would be LOVELY.

I can kind of read Damien either way though, and just sort of forget about Hanna when I like to think he's loving Pindar, and forget about Pindar when he's CLEARLY DESPERATELY IN LOVE WITH HANNA. I love Damien and Hanna just deciding to steal Pindar, I love Hanna judging Damien for taking . . . whatever his name is, the big bad person that Peter and Jared are defending, to Peter and Jared instead of catching him for himself. Also I like him wheeling the woman away on her roller skates.

I'll make a poster that says 'Bad guys don't rollerblade' just because.
I love how Damien says 'bananas'and why doesn't he remember Carmen's name yet?.
Also, there should be a fic of the first Ironical Male Stripper!

Your theory on Peter being a weird, creepy, toenail-collecting stalker made me laugh so hard! And there are so many little bits about this episode that I love, and yes, all of them inspire fic that I really want to read. I totally agree that we need ALL OF THE FIC! (I may also be considering some form of Jared/Ellen fic. Just considering it, mind you!)

The final scene with the two of them in the office and the 'warm hand' comment is adorable though, especially when Peter says that children like Jared because he's the same size!

Weird creepy toe-nail Peter is not a theory I am actually on board with. I'm sure he has PERFECTLY GOOD REASONS for having a massive stash of Jared's left over body parts.

I love the warm hand thing, I love when peter says 'what?' and Jared says 'nothing' in just the best way possible, and I love how little he is, and I LOVE THAT THEY PLAY DARTS while practically hugging.
